Simeons successfully treated more than 10,000 people by the time he died. Swiss surgeon Trudy Voigt reported on 6,000 obese patients successfully treated with Cura Romana at Bellevue-Klinik in Zurich over a period of 12 years (Aesthetic Plastic Surgery vol. 4, pp 109-115. 1980). She states: "Daily injections of 125 IU of human chorionic gonadotrophin, combined with a special 500-calorie diet, has proven to be a successful medical treatment. It had a rapid effect in reducing body contour circumferences over the full course of treatment and offered the patient a sense of well-being and satisfaction."
Daniel Oscar Belluscio MD, in Argentina, has written more extensively than any other physician in the world about Simeons' protocol, exploring in depth every aspect of Cura Romana and teaching doctors throughout the world how to use it. By 2008 he had successfully treated 14,000 cases of obesity. He continues to do so. Belluscio began his work with Cura Romana using Simeons' original injectable form of hCG. Since then he has developed an oral form of hCG which he now uses. He is director of The Oral hCG Research Center in Buenos Aires. It disseminates – free of charge – reliable information about the protocol to doctors worldwide who wish to learn about it.
Together Voigt and Belluscio published a report that is well worth looking at. It is entitled "Controversies in Plastic Surgery: Suction-Assisted Lipectomy and the hCG Protocol for Obesity Treatment." In it they do not advise surgical procedures as the first choice for managing a distorted, overweight body. They report: "The hCG method for obesity treatment appears to be a complete program for the management of obesity." (Aesthetic Plastic Surgery 11 131-156, 1987). In this published article there are a number of full-colour nude photographs which demonstrate the changes in body shape and form that take place in men and women who have been through the protocol. Some show the way stretch marks alleviate or disappear. Others record how fat shed from arms and legs has not resulted in sagging skin nor eaten away at muscle mass. All testify to the remarkable re-sculpting of the body that occurs on Cura Romana.
