Special Tea

Helps keep your bowels regular should you need help. I recommend Smooth Move Tea by Traditional Medicinals, or Get Regular Tea by Yogi Tea. You also have the choice of taking capsules, of a gentle natural herbal laxative – preferably organic – if you prefer but the tea is delicious and often works better.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is the only vitamin you will use while on hCG + Food Plan. You will take from 3 to 4 grams a day. You can take your vitamin C in either of two forms. 1. The powdered/crystalline form which you can mix with your fiber in water, maybe add a little stevia, and drink. 2. Vitamin C in capsule form. You can also take your fiber in capsule form of you like. Either way make sure you are getting at least 3 grams a day. An excellent source of reasonably priced vitamin C is made by Now Foods. You can buy it from iherb.com. Whichever way you decide to go, make sure you never use a brand that contains sugar, any kind of artificial sweeteners or other chemical additives.

A Good Source of Fiber

Choose one based on psyllium seed husks (Plantago asiatica) sometimes called hulls, FINELY ground. You can get psyllium seed husks in health food stores, NOT psyllium seeds themselves since they contain fat you do not want to take during the food plan. Use a rounded teaspoonful of ground psyllium husks, add a large cup of water, your vitamin C and a little stevia and blend quickly for a few seconds. Drink immediately before it 'gels' otherwise it is intolerable. If you prefer you can buy psyllium husk capsules. Solgar, for instance, do them. You will probably need 4 to 6 capsules each day – not 2 capsules as the label states. Whatever you choose must not contain chemicals, oils or sugar in any form. Acacia fibre is also good, particularly for those with sensitive bowels or IBS.

A Skin Lotion Based on Mineral Oils

You can use this as a moisturizer, body lotion, cleanser and what-have-you during the first three weeks of the program. My favorite is QV Skin Lotion by Ego, which is made in Australia but is available in many countries including the UK. You can order it over the internet. There are many others on the market that will do fine. Look for a dermatological lotion or cream – the kind that is made for sensitive skins recommended for the relief of conditions like atopic eczema and psoriasis. Ask the pharmacist. It must contain no lanolin and no vegetable oils. Baby oil, straight mineral oil and liquid paraffin will also do. QV also do an excellent body wash for hCG + Food Plan, a cream, and a bath oil based on mineral oil. All are very good.

Stevia

Stevia can be ordered online from www.godshaer.co.uk This is where you can buy white stevia instead of the green stuff in the UK. You can try both the powder and the liquid. They are good quality and not expensive.

Make Up

Try Jane Iredale Makeup – mineral makeup – maybe the best in the world. I predict you'll come to love it not just when on hCG + Food Plan, but forever after. Use her Dream Tint Moisture Tint SPF15, and top off with her Pure Pressed Base Mineral Powder SPF20. It gives superb covering, looks natural and is good for skin. Look online for where to buy Jane Iredale in your country. There are other mineral makeup products available on the market, make sure that they contain no animal or vegetables oils if you are going to use them during hCG + Food Plan.

Toothpaste

You can use plain Baking Soda or sea salt, but Weleda's Calendula or Salt toothpastes are nice, or Toms of Main toothpaste, available from health-food stores, pharmacies and online.

Deodorant

Crystal Deodorant, stick or spray, available from health-food stores, pharmacies and online.

Sunblock

The best is Jane Iredale's Dream Tint Moisture Tint SPF15 – made of minerals. It is perfect as a makeup and natural non-chemical sunscreen. Top it off with her Pure Pressed Base Mineral Powder SPF20. Aveeno Oil-Free Sunscreen is nice. Clinique do an oil-free sunscreen as well.

Soaps And Cleansers

The best cleanser of all is Jane Iredale's Makeup Remover Mitt. You just wet it in warm water (no soap or cleanser required) rub it on your face and it removes makeup fast and easily. Then you rinse the mitt itself (not your skin) with a little hand soap, and hang it up, ready for the next day. It lasts for years. Soaps like Ivory or Zest, or something not "enriched" with oils and creams will do fine. So will a liquid wash, like QV Skin Wash, which contains no animal or vegetable oils.
